This is all written from several sources, my research on the web, numerous studies, in several books per month and various other sources and people. What I write is from my conclusions from my diabetic recovery experience and what I absorb and evaluate from research and following large numbers of studies. My view on different matters changes as I uncover new information so my writings are usually dated and is information and my conclusion at the time that particular article etc was written. The web and newspaper past writings are not changed, just our current information updated as we uncover it. Recently I came out with and published my conclusion that diabetes was but a symptom of a bigger disease that included cancer, heart attacks, stroke, Alzheimer's, arthritis, and other afflictions referred to as degenerative diseases. (do it to yourself) These are all symptoms of the disease we named "modernittis". This is a disease that is the body survival system attempting to protect the body from some input from modern man which your body considers to be life threatening and must be disposed of. You body defense system (immune system etc) mounts a long term attack to rid it and it is this being ratcheted up that winds up with your own body cells inadvertently self destructing. This results in killing over 80% of Americans currently and over 86% of diabetics. I do consider and hope you are understanding the connection of all these afflictions and my version explains it so it will make sense and give you a good clear view of what you might do to head it off. Understand this is strictly my solving this for myself, as to what is going on, I did not read it anywhere and you wont find it anywhere else. Understand I have no medical expertise whatsoever but I did spend to date over 18 months researching and covering the subject from end to the other and I have a great deal of figuring out ability, especially now that I am on Chocolate therapy. Actually, that really makes a difference, for me. (apparently opens up my circulation) I have solved things I have been trying to solve for 30 years, and two days later I solve it even further with even a better (engineering problem) solution. Here is a chocolate update, forgot to tell you, do not give chocolate to your dog, cat or horse. None of those digest it correctly and have serious problems with chocolate. By the way, lots of dogs, and cats especially are coming down with diabetes, guess why?? Same reason, you did...diet, give them food with grain and sugar and they too wind up with diabetes. Read the label on your pet food. Over half the stuff in the contents your pets body was not designed to eat. Your pets body was not made to run on that stuff and neither was yours. Once again, dark chocolate is three times as potent as regular chocolate. We told you to use cream with your chocolate recipes, forget that, new research says milk kills the flavanoids, and is why milk chocolate has little therapeutic value. Yogurt is predigested by a bacteria culture so it may be okay ( I hope). Cocoa normally is a powder with all coco butter fat removed and No sugar. The Hershey dark chocolate ($3.19) One can lasts me a week. It is "Dutch processed" alkalized chocolate. (no fat, no sugar, just dark chocolate) Chocolate is very acidic and you want to maintain an alkaline body so it creates a problem. The alkalized Dutch process removes some of the acidity and inadvertently some of the flavonals etc that make it worthwhile. It does make it less bitter and you can learn to like it without sugar after a while. Therefore, you just input a little extra and you are back to where you were. We ran into this Hershey Dark cocoa originally in a grocery in Atlanta and have had a hard time since finding grocers who stock it. Finally got a local grocer to order it in special for me, after having found it in a local grocery, bought all they had and they did not restock it and I ran out. Local grocer ordered it with my promising to buy all three cases if it did not sell. So I keep buying it trying to convince him it is big seller and he should keep reordering it. (piles up on my shelf capacity) If you can not find it and will pay postage plus the $3.19 we will send you some and that will help keep my grocer reordering it. Tell us how many you want. We do not want to be in the chocolate business, but think this is important and from personal experience finding it in a local grocery is a real pain. Regarding food dryer to make Pemmican, (much handier then your oven) I have now found my fourth one for under $10 at thrift stores, one never even used. Since I am in Midwest and Arizona both about half the time I need two sets of everything. Dry meat at 150 degrees or so is okay but all other dry at under 115, since 116 or over kills all enzymes. Employee husband and friends have offered to get me a couple of deer if hunt goes well. I pay for processing. Suggesting hamburger and use it for pemmican since hamburger dries well. Tried drying Kangaroo hamburger in Australia. Suggest you read article on subject of book by Weston Price, (two pages in our issue six newspaper,) which was my big find in books this issue. This guy was a dentist and carefully researched indigenous groups still existing around the world who had not been moved to modernized food systems. Everything I have been telling you they already knew from his research in the 30's. He was a dentist with money and spent years carefully documenting everything, though he was originally primarily interested in the dental difference diet made. Interesting that he found and took thousands of pictures that after the second generation on modern diets showed the kids started narrowing the face, and by next generation they often no longer had room for all their teeth, their breathing narrowed up and some even became mouth breathers. (Never read that anywhere before) Those on modern diets became subject to diseases like tuberculosis. One Seattle Hospital Doctor was sending those with tuberculosis back to their native area and diet as the best way to have a chance to survive tuberculosis. (actually native diets were alkaline, modern man very acidic.) Changing back to alkaline diet likely made it impossible for the pathogen to survive and they got well. It is very clear in the thirties that diet was the problem, but you would not know it reading medical literature today. Saying (75 years later) things like nobody knows for sure what the cause of this or that is and it is still to be determined after "more research". After reading Weston's 1930 research, you have to be an idiot not to figure out the cause. By the way, I agree with him that (grass fed dairy cows) butter is a health food. Made a trip in November to New Zealand where all dairy is 100% grass fed and is considered an aid to weight loss. (20 times the US grain fed CLA content) I brought back on the plane 20 pounds of grass raised butter. . To understand why CLA is so important. (almost totally lacking in US animal products, now 95% grain fed) go here. Weston Price said that the butter etc. from early spring grass is particularly therapeutic and he prescribed it in quantity for people in dire straights from faulty diet. (I hit New Zealand in the spring there.) (All meat and dairy as well as most eggs and poultry in New Zealand is grass fed) The people in New Zealand claim eating high CLA butter keeps you from getting fat. It must be working since it is apparent any where you go only a tiny percentage of the local population is overweight. Almost astonishing to observe. (compared to US. ) Of course all of their meat and eggs are also high in CLA. and Omega 3 fats. As you know in the western world vegetables etc are bred, grown and selected primarily for producing large amounts and great appearance. If you are a farmer, that is what it takes to make the bucks. Food value is not even one of the selection criteria. A recent study shows some produce has 40% less nutrients today then it had in 1950. Likely pre 1950 had lost even more then that. Our point is caveman eggs for example (and local range fed today) have 20 times the Omega 3 content the factory chickens on wire have that most people buy today. Even if you did everything caveman did you are getting short changed because what is available at the super market is far removed from the on the site ripened food caveman ate. (produce picked green and ripened at the super market lacks the natural enzymes of ripened on the plant produce.) Therefore, you have to supplement and compensate by being able to ingest more such as juicing. Adding supplements, vitamins etc,. Have 3 articles written on the subject of juicing still have not gotten in the paper but encourage you to try vegetable juicing. They are now posted on the web. Fruit juicing releases too much sugar too fast for a diabetic. Even some vegetables such as carrots, to much sugar too fast if you juice. (or cook, eat them and onions, only raw and no other root veggies should be cooked.) Be careful of what the glycemic rating of a juiced item is. Juicing is tough to stick to but I am managing, 80% of the time, best guess. So far can not credit it with anything changing in my over all health. Learned a lot from the Aborigine people of Australia and the Maori natives of New Zealand. Aborigines have been in Australia isolated from inter breeding with other humans for 60,000 years. That does not mean much to you until you remember, the entire Egyptian civilization has only been 4,500 years. The New Zealand Maori have only been there for 700 years. The Aborigine people developed an amazing survival system which makes them survive almost everything except modern man food, environment etc. Civilization has been devastating for them.In the 30's they did a study of Aborigines that had moved to the big city, came down with diabetes. They returned those in the study home to their native diet and in less then three months all no longer had diabetes. You will see several articles here soon that I have written on the Aborigine survival system.
