The idea that man is basically a meat eater and has been for 2.6 million years is born out by anthropologists going over human remains over history.

There are many good books on the subject and they are referred to as the Paleolithic diet or the caveman diet, protein diet over history etc.
This is also called the "hunter gathering lifestyle," where for 2 million years man ate meat, fish, birds, eggs poultry, fats, some fruits and berries, vegetable and very limited seeds, so practically no starches, until grains showed up. Farming appeared about ten thousand to eight thousand years ago.
They claim it will take fifty thousand years for man to adjust to agriculture, so your model human body is not there yet.
Now, the Egyptians and the bible era folks were all in the agriculture era and were of course members of the agriculture societies that first showed epidemics of modern disease, High blood pressure, obesity and dying of heart attacks as early as 30, all goes with that.

We often think or associate that as early man, not true, this is the mere last ten thousand years out of two and a half million. That short period that has included agriculture where the problems started. It is evidenced by finding bodies becoming shorter, bone problems, teeth decay that was never prevalent in hunter gatherers.

Even overlapping layers of skin in mummies for example showing considerable obesity that only appears with heavy starch (grain etc eaters).
You can read all the books, and it is quite apparent the health problems we are dealing with today, ONLY started with the advent of agriculture, (grain, dairy, domesticated animals) and the fact the human body has not adopted to it yet.

....and of course this has been augmented by the addition, particularly since 1950, man made oils and man made food and chemical distortions. Many of these heavily promoted man made so called foods, you can set in the garage uncovered for six months and neither insects or bacteria will touch it. Yet sold to you as "healthier" then what you been eating food.

You can simply try to continue to force your body to accept and get along on the present diet you "think is "normal" because that was what your were raised with, or you can just say....no big deal, we don’t need it, go back to what your body was made for, mainly a protein or caveman diet.

Ancestors diet is just specifically more tuned to your specific inherited programming on food.
When your body is getting what it needs, you actually need and eat a lot less food.
True the high calorie high starch foods are the cheap foods, and some poor low income areas of town, little else is available. Cheap starch is where the money is so that is what they sell.
You have likely had 500,000 advertising impacts that convinced you sweet powerful "energy" food was just what you needed. You have just had one that maybe that is just what you don’t need.
