Wild animals have a very small percentage of fat.
(6% or less) During droughts, winter or famine, little or not fat.
Grain fed modern meat animal sources will be in the 30% saturated fat
category..
The big difference was caveman got much of the badly needed fat from nuts and
other sources that are mainly Omega 3 fats. Year around fishing delivered Omega
3 fats from fish and marine life.
Therefore it is believed that caveman had about an even one for one split of
Omega 6 saturated fat and Omega 3.
Modern man, (you) in contrast have about a 30 to one ratio. To match the diet
your body was designed for with what caveman ate, you have to work at it. Cut
down or nearly cut out omega six saturated fat, enough will sneak in, and
positively cut out man made fats such as hydrogenated trans fats.
Therefore, your best hope of getting the right ratio of fats...and get closer to
the caveman input your body was designed for, you will need to work at it by
supplementing with flax oil. and fish oil. I recommend cod liver oil.
The easiest way to handle it is try to supplement your meat diet with more wild
game. In my case I buy buffalo meat when in South Dakota and always bring five
to ten pounds of buffalo hamburger with me. Now using buffalo in my pemmican
making.
Have heard of a party who has elk and a couple of employees who deer hunt
have offered to swap me for beef straight across, this season, they give me the
deer meat and I pay for their getting the same poundage in beef.
You should try to eat cold water wild fish at least once a week, (omega 3)
Salmon etc. Try to avoid farm raised even though cheaper.
Very inexpensive but very affective, is to eat a recommended three times a
week sardines. Not everyone is crazy about them but just consider them as
medicinal and you will learn to like what s changing your life and/or extending
it....
General rule, avoid as much saturated fat as you can readily and go the extra
mile to purchase flax seed oil and be sure it is refrigerated and kept refrigerated.
