For Several years, we have hailed Chocolate therapy as the most "must have" for all diabetics that read our publications and web sites.
Ignore all the rest of our content if you like, but do not ignore the importance of the discovery of the studies on dark chocolate (or any chocolate).
We had previously watched chocolate studies coming in for a year or two with great success patterns but what woke us up was in one day, two major long term studies (like ten years and 1,000 plus people) on chocolate came in. One was from Holland on seniors over 70 and the other was from Panama were islanders drank straight cocoa drink three times daily, relatives who moved to town stopped and difference it made was those on it had less than half the deaths of the no cocoa any more Islander.
There have been at least one hundred fifty other chocolate studies since, apparently those running studies with chocolate were running 100% benefit confirming with no negative side effects which would mean their surveys were consistent. One that I particularly paid attention to was one showing that dark chocolate kills the bacteria that hang out in your mouth causing peridontal disease. Your author had numerous root canals in year prior to starting on chocolate therapy and now been at least 4 years without even a trip to dentist to get teeth cleaned.
Either Ancestors diet and/or dark chocolate, the reason, not sure which.
Now today we see this study report from Sweden.
Researchers tracked 1,169 patients Age 45 to 70 admitted to Swedish hospitals with a heart attack over a two year period, checking dietary habits, of how much chocolate they ate over the following ten years.
Consuming a few ounces of chocolate twice a week up, 66 percent less likely to die from cardiac disease than non-eaters.
Once a week cut risk by almost half, even once a month or less - cut the risk by 27 percent.
Researchers said, 'We found it had a strong inverse association with subsequent cardiac mortality.'
Means "cut deaths".
Keep in mind this was not the twice as potent dark chocolate, not even available over this whole period, it was regular chocolate.
Here is a study from November, 09, Oxford:
Does chocolate really improve your brain power? The answer is yes. Those who consumed chocolate had significantly better mean test scores and lower prevalence of poor cognitive performance than those who did not, according to the study of over 1,000 people 70 to 74.
We have reported previously on studies showing chocolate opened up pipes to the brain enough to raise grades one full point in college studies. Main medicinal value of dark chocolate is opening pipes lowering blood pressure, preventing inflammation, etc., as a result and the main thing, of course, is repeated studies that it cut deaths by over half FROM ALL CAUSES compared to those on a placebo.
Use Powdered Hershey 100% Dark chocolate Baking Chocolate, (can in photo...) weeks supply $4.29. The Bar under can, is a Lendl, it is 85% Dark Chocolate, has some sugar, but is tolerable if mixed with other or small quantity eaten as piece of bar slowly over time...
Left Chocolate Bars in picture are all NOT dark chocolate and you have to eat twice as much for the same effect as dark chocolate, which is twice as potent. The Bakers is least expensive, all are 100% chocolate. Never eat less than 85% DARK chocolate. Never add milk or sugar to make a drink, etc. Negates everything.
Remember, these are bitter chocolate, and, many sugar addicts will not like them at all but you develop a taste for them. Other good source is Chocolate nibs, which are neutral non sweet. White chocolate is worthless.
One study says more than a certain amount lowers value. Not heard that again.
Half life is six hours, so suggest morning awakener, two pm drink, and 7 pm Yogurt chocolate full fat dessert pudding you make.
Three bars on left in photo are Baking PLAIN chocolate, not dark chocolate, no dark chocolate available as baking 100% unsweetened chocolate. These are relatively inexpensive so you just eat twice as much, but frankly not much is needed and one study has said more than a small amount lowered the benefit, not increased it.
We cannot over extend our notice to look into and get yourself on Dark Chocolate, (therapy) 100% no sugar, no milk as soon as you can.
Dark Chocolate is the "miracle drug" if you were looking for one and it is cheap only because nobody can patent it as a pharmaceutical product.
Therefore, there is no money in it for drug companies and the medical society, so you are not hearing much about it, and do not expect to.
They will just say you cannot do much chocolate because everybody knows any quantity of chocolate will make you fat.
What they do not even apparently know is this DOES NOT makes you fat because this is straight chocolate with NO SUGAR, No Milk, No Fat, etc.
Yes, chocolate is bitter without sugar but you become accustomed to it. Hot cocoa in water works. We make green tea and then add cocoa for a double benefit.
The studies are all reliable scientific studies and the straight information. No one is paying them to get them to come out a certain way or slant.
These studies were originally set up to check what effect chocolate had on blood pressure. It turns out that people on chocolate in the studies were running almost perfect blood pressure levels since it is now known the principal benefit is it opens up your pipes as we call it.
This helps make you almost immune" to the effects of hypertension -- (high blood pressure).
The big unexpected surprise was that these, over 1,000 people each survey over as much as a ten year period, let them enjoy much lower death rates from heart attacks, strokes, diabetes and cancer. In fact, most of the studies just say it lowered death rate "from all causes" on those on the chocolate to half what those on the placebo experienced.
That was not even what the studies were set up, for they were to test primarily the effect on blood pressure.
Turns out it benefits most every ailment. Including blood supply to your brain, including to your extremities, and your small veins to your eyes and nerves, which is the problem for diabetics.
For seniors it means not losing your thinking (cognitive) ability and memory as fast and stave off dementia, which is primarily a reduced blood supply to your brain, Alzheimer's too most likely.
There have been studies recently on its affect on diabetes and can now be considered a major help that all diabetics should be on.
My research was to find what the side effects were. After reading over one hundred studies, never found a single one that had noted any adverse side effects whatsoever. That is amazing in itself.
Try finding that with ANY prescription drug.
You really do not have to analyze it as to what it's benefiting or affecting, you and I are interested primarily in the bottom line result.
Cut your chances of death in half or better.
