Aspirin: Helpful or Harmful
20,000 People Study Will Help You Decide

A recent study concluded by researchers in Australia looked into the effects of routine low doses of aspirin in 20,000 people older than 70 with no cardiovascular disease. The studies results show any benefits from low-dose aspirin administered to prevent cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke are offset by increased instances of serious bleeding.

While more than 700 heart attacks may have been prevented, more than 1,000 people experienced excess gastrointestinal bleeding.

Note: The "prevented|" is speculation and is a "MAY HAVE prevented heart attacks."

The caused excess bleeding is reported and it actually HAPPENED.
They do not say how many died of it.. though in other studies some long term aspirin users died of it.

There are many people who bleed to death in hospitals. Totally unable to stop the stomach bleeding that has occurred, having lost the lining of their stomach. This bleeding due to long term low dose aspirin treatment

Aspirin is reported to kill the enzyme that protects your stomach lining
