This article ran before because I thought it the best way to explain the get off dairy and flour. I run it again here.
This article originally ran and was written as a result of my getting into a lengthy article by a veterinarian who was himself gluten intolerant (grain) a celiac DEFINE and getting off it cleared up his allergy, heartburn, intestinal problems, depression, chronic/fatigue, memory, and balance difficulties, was on 4 or more drugs daily and was not having any fun.
He now, 2½ years later, feels better than at 12 and is 100% symptom free.
My making a long story short, as a veterinarian, he noticed what was happening to cats and dogs who had celiac (gluten) (grain) intolerance and similar food intolerances.
He applied these food intolerant principles to his "pet" clients and miracles started happening.
Allergies abated, intestinal problems cleared, older pets had less pain, and became more active and even epilepsy stopped. (to read further on his research and conclusions, read the paper "The Answer" at http://www.dogtorj.net)
Summary:
Decided - the intestine
called the Duodenum gets (my summary words here on) "gooed" by a "glue"
from products used to make adhesives, gluten (from grain) casein (from milk products) and soy protein and even corn.
These products are used in processed food to hold ("glue") things together as well as industrial glues (and even library paste).
Number One and Two kid food allergies are casein and- Number Four soy - Three is eggs. But that is he says a result of the presence of the number one and two.
Man and pets bodies are not made to digest these.
He claims this "glue" sticks to the villi of the duodenum and drastically cuts absorption of nutrients you and/or your dog or cat need, cut drastically the absorption of needed nutrients.
This "malabsorption" of vital nutrients, he says, happens to all pets and people.
Wheat and soy the worst (with dairy already eliminated from pet food, corn is in the middle.
Oats and rice the least sticky.
Wheat was added to pet food about 18 years ago with major repercussions. Dairy, he says, is the number one glue and allergen.
Pets develop hip dysplasia, and a long list of ailments you have heard not only on pets, but man.
Some breeds are more allergen food intolerant and it takes a larger and faster TOLL.
He calls this nutrient blocking "malabsorption" and that it will get everyone, it is not IF, it is When, they will cause the problem.
He cites osteoporosis as an example of glue hampered "mineral" absorption.
You can supplement but if you continue eating the "glues" you will lose the battle.
This is true of other minerals and all of these "deficiencies" things you hear about. Now you know why you are deficient.
You fix the deficiency by stopping input of the glues, grains, dairy, soy and corn.
Weston Price's research book, (1930) see issue 5, his research showed indigenous people who went on modern man (glue) diets - second and third generation following had a narrowing of the face often not enough room for their teeth and some even became "mouth" breathers.
This switch to " modern man" glue on the villi diet would explain why they had severe nutrient deficiency symptoms.
Just as some breeds of dogs on glue diets have bone, (hip etc.) growth problems before maturity.
SIMPLE SOLUTION;
Get off the glue diet. Miracles Happen,
Man and beast no longer have these problems.
