Advanced Insulin Resistance, (what diabetes basically is) is cumulative over many years.This is why it used to be called "Old Age Onset" diabetes.Insulin Resistance (Root of Diabetes ) develops and accumulates over 30 to 40 years and happens (comes to fruitation) as a result primarily to people in their 50's 60's and 70's.

After 30 to 50 seasons of extra high insulin for an attempted "fat storing" period each year, your cumulative insulin resistance has become so high, your pancreas Insulin output can no longer be raised even more to force glucose (sugar) be readily accepted by cells. To make matters worse as you got older, physical activity slows down and you burn less sugar as you became more sedentary, your sugar absorbing muscles turned to flab. Adding fat pounds (primarily fat around the waist) along the way, each season, greatly increases insulin resistance, causing the need for even higher Insulin levels. Your pancreas maxed out has started to wear out and no longer can produce as much as four times normal insulin necessary to overcome the yearly increased "Insulin Resistance" plus that resulting from large amounts of fat now being added on the body as your metabolism and physical activity slow down. With extremely high insulin resistance your body cells are not accepting or absorbing sugar unless extremely high Insulin is present. Your pancreas can no longer make enough insulin as the bar has been raised too high. The result is your blood sugar, now running abnormally high (because of the "modern diet") with no where to go, goes higher and higher out of control and beginning to cause irreparable body damage. The natural Result: You have Diabetes, Type 2, and the complications that go with it.
Selective natural survival process usually corrected any defect in the body operating system. Only those that had the right genes with a defect corrected survived and reproduced. Here the disease is "after reproduction age" so there was no "natures" survival correction. The surprising thing is with the modern diet, after you understand what is going on here, is that only 16% have diabetes.
